Satan And The Fall Of Man

Why did Satan tempt humanity in the first place?  It would appear that Satan fell due to some form of pride.  Mankind was the pinnacle of God’s creation and the purpose, indirectly, of God’s plan of redemption.  Satan rebelled because he desired the throne of God, did not want to minister to a lower creature, or due to jealousy.  It was probably a combination of all three, all of them being manifestations of pride.  Following the angelic fall, God dispelled them from heaven and proclaimed them damned and judged; they would not be redeemed, reconciled, forgiven, reinstated, or given a second chance.  They are forever without grace, hope, God’s favor and love.  Therefore, Satan, it would appear, in all of his malice and hatred tempted man to sin thinking that they too would be unredeemable, unforgivable, un-salvable, and that God’s creation would be thus ruined and beyond repair or rescue.  How wrong was he?  In spite of all of Satan’s work, God is reconciling the world to Himself (2 Cor. 5:19).
